How do you write Rey? And by that I mean, how do you write her well? I'm always so unsure of my RPing and I love doing it but I feel like I get too excited to do it and rush my replies rather than thinking them out and end up super ooc. I look to you for inspiration tbh and I was wondering how you go about getting such ic replies done (and just generally having a super koala tea blog?)

Oh  my  goodness,  I’m  flattered  you  think I  write  her  so  well!  Honestly  I  takes  quite  awhile,  which  is  why  I  don’t  post  in  character  content  as  much  as  I  feel  I  should.  I  don’t  think  there’s  anything  wrong  with  being  excited  about  your  replies  in  the  slightest!

The  only  advice  I  would  give  you  is  write  them,  and  maybe  let  them  sit  for  a  short  while  and  ruminate  on  them  perhaps?  I  write  an  outline  and  spend  a  good  deal  of  time  editing   revising  until  I  feel  it’s  up  to  par.  Sometimes  things  just  don’t  turn  out  as  perfectly  as  I  would  like,  or  in  the  voice  I  want  to  portray  but  it  definitely  takes  practice!  I’ve  got  nearly  two  years  of  studying  and  working  with  her  character  under  my  belt  so  that  probably  gives  me  an  advantage.

When  I  write  her  I  try  to  put  myself  in  her  shoes  as  much  as  possible.  I  look  at  things  from  her  point  of  view  and  then  I  take  a  step  back  and  assess  things  from  a  psychological  point  of  view  and  a  storytelling  point  of  view.  How would she react to this type of situation or conversation? How would those words or actions make her feel? How can I portray these things in a way that feels organic to her character and picks up on her mannerisms?  These  are  the  sort  of  questions  I  ask  myself  when  I  start  to  write  anything.

I  certainly  have  my  off  days,  like  I’ve  stated  above.  Sometimes  it’s  just  plain  hard  to  get  someone’s  voice  down  correctly.  Certain  replies  and  scenarios  can  evade  you  but  you’ve  just  got  to  power  through   those  spells.  Don’t  lose  that  enthusiasm  though!!  I  really  admire  that  you’re  so  hyped  you’re  able  to  reply  quickly!  Being  speedy  doesn’t  always  mean  your  replies  are  rushed  or  aren’t  well  thought  out.  Rping  is  supposed  to  be  fun  and  turning  it  into  a  chore  or  a  job  saps  the  fun  from  that.
